Categorical evaluation of threshold exceeding is performed in these graphs. Forecasts when the last observed stage was lower then the threshold stage a the maximum forecasted value (or in reality observed) was above the threshold was chosen only. Category HIT means, that stage above the threshold had been predicted and afterwards observed, FALSE ALARM means, that stage above the threshold was predicted but it hadn't been observed, and MISS category means, that stage above the threshold was observed and hadn't been predicted.
The graph on the left shows the sum of categories (HIT, MISS, FALSE ALARM) for three different thresholds which were set according to 3 stages of flood protection control in the Czech republic. The graph on the right shows development of portion of HITT/MISS/FASLE ALARM categories in period 2002 to 2012 for forecast of exceeding 1.SPA (Flood watch stage) Additional information in REPORT.
